Meet your online banking needs
Monday April 7, 2008
Online banking can be such a convenient part of your banking experience, but only if you've been provided with the right features. Before you sign up for an account with a new online banking institution, make sure they have covered all of the common banking activities you may need to accomplish online.
Easy fund transfers
Does the online banking interface of your new account make it easy to transfer funds between your accounts? Convoluted transfer processes could lead to you needing to recover lost funds, so to avoid this possibility you should ask whether you can see a demonstration of the online fund transfer facilities.
Bill payment
If your bank doesn't give you access to facilities such as BPay, then there's very little advantage to its online banking service. Online bill payment is one of the greatest conveniences of online banking, and without it you'll find little point to using your Internet banking capabilities.
Detail changes
It may not come up very often, but when you do need to change details such as your home address and contact number you will want the process to be as simple as possible. Most online banking services should allow you to do this, however it is best to ensure this is the case, as it could be disastrous if you make plans to move and merely assume you can change your details online.
